Pseudomonas Aeruginosa in Bovine Mastitis

چکیده

Small, Gram-negative bacteria that produced a blue-green fluorescence characteristic of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Bacillus pyocyaneus) were found in all but 2 cases of an unusually severe outbreak of bovine mastitis involving 23 cows. Since the outbreak wais unusual in character, a study was carried on to determine the identity of the organisms and their possible significance. The results are reported in this paper. Characterisation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa related to bovine mastitis.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the causative pathogens of bovine mastitis. Most P. aeruginosa strains possess the type III secretion system (TTSS), which may increase somatic cell counts (SCCs) in milk from mastitis-affected cows. Moreover, most of P. aeruginosa cells can form biofilms, thereby reducing antibiotic efficacy. In this study, the presence and effect of TTSS-related genotypes on i...

Molecular analysis of Pseudomonas aeruginosa: epidemiological investigation of mastitis outbreaks in Irish dairy herds.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a pathogen in both humans and animals. This bacterium, most often associated with respiratory infections in cystic fibrosis patients, was found to be the causative agent in bovine mastitis outbreaks among 11 Irish dairy herds. Epidemiological findings suggested that the infection was spread to all herds by teat wipes that had been contaminated with this organism. Two m...

Motility activity, slime production, biofilm formation and genetic typing by ERIC-PCR for Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains isolated from bovine and other sources (human and environment).

The molecular-typing strategy, ERIC-PCR was used in an attempt to determine the genomic relationship of 28 P. aeruginosa strains isolated from faeces of healthy bovine, bovine mastitis and from faeces of hospital patients as well as from environment. ERIC-PCR fingerprinting revealed large molecular differentiation within this group of isolates. Twenty two out of 28 strains tested generated uniq...

The bovine innate immune response during experimentally-induced Pseudomonas aeruginosa mastitis.

Almost half of all clinical cases of mastitis are caused by Gram-negative bacteria. Among these bacteria, intramammary infection by Pseudomonas aeruginosa remains one of the most refractory to antibiotic therapy. The ability to recognize potentially harmful pathogens whether previously encountered or not, as well as the induction of an initial pro-inflammatory response to these pathogens, are c...

Detection and characterization of pathogenic Pseudomonas aeruginosa from bovine subclinical mastitis in West Bengal, India

AIM Subclinical mastitis in bovines is mainly responsible for the huge economic loss of the dairy farmers, of which Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the causative agents. The study was aimed at a screening of suspected milk samples from different cattle farms of West Bengal for detection and confirmation of P. aeruginosa strains followed by their characterization. MATERIALS AND METHODS Around...
